While crowdfunding to cover its costs is heading to the final week the mural itself might not see the end of that campaign.

Philly.com reports recent #PhillytheBern mural in South Philadelphia violates L&I code. From the March 22 article we learn that  Philadelphia Dept. of License & Inspections considers the mural a form of advertisement rather then artistic expression.

As I visited the site, two weeks ago, street artist ‘Old Broads’ and ‘Disto’ worked hard on details like eyes, mountains and the Philly skyline. The vibrant mural featuring a two-story tall portrait of U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders is located at the corner of 22nd St. and Catharina Street. I payed them a visit to capture the scene and a selection of images I captured there are up on the wires at Corbis and Alamy.
